  Rest in Peace My Friend (For Ricki)

  this has been a bit of a tough week.

  yesturday i learnt about the death of my friend ricki - he was only 22. i was totally shocked and still can't believe it - i just saw him on friday (he died on sunday).

  the reason for his death - drug overdose.

  When is the Memorial?

  #1) i don't know when the memorial is ...... and #2) i'm planning on having a family get-together dinner at the end of this month, but i don't want to choose the evening of the memorial; because our two jw relatives wouldn't be able to attend our dinner on that day.

  i know they'll be going to the memorial.. thanks for letting me know the date!

  Lack of hobbies and personal interests prompts some to pioneer

  some in my hall are bored.

  they've either been laid off or they've taken a break from pioneering, whether its regular or auxiliary.. they have little in the way of personal pursuits or interests.. to fill this apparent lack of personal development and self fulfillment, they reason it is better to spend time in the ministry.. then when personal problems arise, they quit.

  they can't keep up with the routine.. they get bored again and unfulfilled.

  Yeah, I get it. My mom and I were pioneers; once, some sisters invited us over one afternoon to watch a movie with them. We went, it was nice. Afterward, my mom said, What a waste of time and life, see how some people spend their time when they don't want to pioneer?

  do you ever wish your family was different than what you have?

  i would so love to have the type of family a friend of mine has.

  they are all very very close, their children are very close, they get together every sunday for brunch, each sibling takes a turn at having it at their place.

  Bumble Chick, I know what you mean. I have a big family, but we're a freaking mess because of this religion. We ARE what they call dysfunctional, disconnected, and there is 'no natural affection'.

  On the other hand, you know what they say, Friends are family that you get to pick.

  Elders refuse to Testify

  the case goes to court today i think.. you will notice that the org + the local elders are only interested in protecting confidentiality and are refusing to testify.. the rights of the victims are lower on the priority scale.. makes me shudder.

  so my service overseer just called to get my time.

  a quick check on my youtube account watchtower comments showed over 6,900 views in the month of february.

  "that's 480 hours of witnessing this month, brother.

  Sorta funny. .. ish. . .but was enlightening. . .

  While a jw, I had a friend from Brooklyn, she said she was always in awe of the 'brothers', meaning Bethel HQ. She once was perplexed by a subject and called the service desk for help, as she listened to the bro answer, she realized he was her BS conductor in her own cong! She said she kept saying 'Bro. Schmuck I can't believe it's you, I can't believe this!!'

  She knew him and his personal and family problems well, was flabbergasted that HE was the Bethel service/info desk.
